My May-Flower!

My May-Flower

Love, you’re the essence of a flower, fragrant, rich, vibrant, nuanced. From the depth of my soul, I tell you the truth; your picturesque beauty, all my soul will ever need. May I, evermore celebrate your sway, speak deeply of your pleasing way? It’s August, but in perpetuity my May flower. Hour after hour, love’s reign yields its beautiful shower. Love, may my heart take this moment to savor its rosary, give love’s breadth its due? Can my soul, relish its flowery nature, the sweetness of love’s crimson hue. Oh heart, don’t be silly, hope floats like deep rivered water lily; while breathtakingly hearts drown in love’s ocean. Love gazes breathless, with the scent of misted Daisy, love’s delightful kiss upon my tulips. You see, the summer of 86 there was A-gust, a cool introverted breeze, by love my heart seized, forever swept away. Sixteen candles, wished upon a star, but who can see that far. Yet, the winds of time blew, and the years flew, of love’s reign its heavenly dew. My May-flower, of heart’s wedded bliss, this, love’s cascading mist. Love, may I, pour from my soul of your overflowing well, what makes a heart swell; love, etched within the pages of my story’s poetic tell!

*** This week is my wife’s birthday, we met in the summer of 86, that August we celebrated her sweet sixteenth birthday. My May-flower she became, when we married May of 88. Over the years, I make a point to celebrated her. As some of you know, May 2023 she had a stroke, and we ended up celebrating our anniversary in the hospital; take out dinner and a movie, on my table. She’s still recovering, with my heart and soul as her caregiver, and God as our source. My days are long, but my full, caring for matching hearts. And, as long as I have breath, love’s celebration will forever be! ***

In May of 2020, I wrote a post called; the vow, a glimpse into our story. I’ve included the link, for anyone who would like to read it. The Vow!

Song Inspired; Home!

When I think of home, I don’t think of a place, without knowing love occupies a space. Deep within the crevices of my soul, love fills up the cavities, letting a heart feel at home. Tomorrow has a deceptive destination, the heart again and again finding out that it’s today, to again live free. If we’re not careful, we can find our well being in a place where brokenness takes up space, within the shape of one’s heart. Home, a place where palpably there’s an overflowing of love. Whenever the day becomes long and distracting, we wish to be at home, overwhelmed with its loving feeling. Wind makes tall grass bend, but in leaning, sway gives you its reason; warmth has a distinct season. When one’s soul longs to be home, one’s yearning enters into the space, where one’s heart can receive of love’s unbridled comfort. For in that moment without warning raindrops fall, and in its solace you feel of love’s reign, its sublime meaning. For the days that weigh heavily on your mind, mundane feelings trying to seep bitterly into your soul. In that moment, I know, know the where my thoughts end up being, of home. You see, if one’s heart isn’t careful, your mind can end up wandering between aimless spaces. A place where sometimes, living doesn’t feel like a brand new world, stepping out of your comfort zone. But yet the days, when step by step love’s journey is being confident, your heart living its best life. Knowing the intimate balance to live, love, laugh. Living encouraged of its seal, loving emboldened of its zeal, laughing persuaded that it’s real. The look inside one’s soul, the search of one’s heart, to see if there’s still room? Love and affection convincing time to slow down for just a moment, to allow your heart enough time to grow, heartily strengthened!

*** Whitney Houston’s version of the song “Home,” originated from the musical The Wiz, showcasing her vocal prowess and emotional depth. The song was famously performed on The Merv Griffin Show in 1983, marking a pivotal moment that introduced her to a wider audience. The lyrics of “Home” speak of longing for a place of love, peace, and belonging. Since 2018, and every year since, I’ve taken one of her songs and written a post on or near her birthday, to commemorate her life and legacy. ***

DJ, coursing through my being, the rhythmic flow of its cultural vibes. Its joyous riddim cultivated in Jamaica’s breathtaking yonder, part of love’s groovy little island wonder!

After more than 300 hundred years of British colonial rule, Jamaica gained independence on August 6, 1962. The road to independence was long and hard, but with prominent and instrumental figures such as, Sir Alexander Bustamante, and Norman Manley, Jamaica gained its freedom for self-governance. In Jamaica, this date is celebrated as Independence Day, its national holiday!

*** Though, I’ve been living in Canada since the 70’s, I would be remiss not recognizing Jamaica’s independence, the land of my birth as something to be celebrated! ***
