The Message; Get Down On It!

When you’re going through the rough times, even when your heart is living in the good times; get down on it. I’ve spent many nights wondering, spent many days pondering; what should I do? So many times I told myself, God will see me through. My heart believed it, my soul even knew Faith was the Substance. Using Hope to steady the heart, that’s what you do. Music was a real source of healing, my soul would endlessly dance; like David danced. When God’s love truly got a hold of my heart, tears started to flow; joy down in my soul. All my heart wanted to do, get down on it!

It doesn’t matter, how many people think you’re crazy. It doesn’t matter, how strong the haters may seem. God is sovereign strong; even Goliath, had to fall. God will use your enemies as your foot stool; every day, get down on it. Even if you’re walking through the valley, there’s no need to be scared. Never let your heart be a slave to fear, shadows; will never bring death. God is the life, the love, the light; that shines the brightest within the darkness. Let His love hold your every breath. Let your life start, and end with Him; get down on it!

Sound moves the spirit, praise and worship stirs up God’s love. When a heart sings of God’s love, it will move God’s heart. My heart has come to trust in God’s love a long time ago, not because I had abundant faith; but a strong belief, that I will forever need God’s love. Not just to survive within the shadows, but thrive; while going through the valley. Like most of us, my life has been filled with anger; lots of disappointments. But you couldn’t pay me a million dollars, to abandon the idea; of true hope. I could have never made it to this point, within the journey called life. Without God’s love, guiding my heart through the wilderness; giving my sometimes weary soul, true joy and rest. So friends, Get Down On It; but Stay Down on it, until you get your breakthrough!

Song Inspired; There You Are!

Whenever I felt all alone, when the silence became my favorite place; there You are. When I was surrounded by so many people, but still felt invisible. Didn’t know it at the time, You never lost sight of my heart; forever cloaked within Your love. Even before my heart knew how to recognize Your voice, there You were. Within the quietness, moving within the stillness; whispering sweet words of love, what You do!

Whenever I felt lost, in You is where my heart is found; forever in my heart and soul, there You are. Even when the days seemed so dark, my soul was never too blind to see; that Your love has always been the light. Even when it became a bit harder to see, Your love has been always there; to take me by the heart. In the middle of the night, Your love is the brightest star. The gaze within my heart, the glimmer of hope within my soul; a shimmer of light, who You are!

When a heart feels broken, when shattered becomes the nagging pain. When the soul feels like it’s going through a constant state of hurt, Your love is the presence; fixing the brokenness, faithful You are. Within a quiet word of prayer, just with a tiny seed of faith; there You are, moving within the midst. To bless, to restore the happiness. To believe Your faithfulness, is to trust Your perfect love. You came like an Angel, but to be the Savior; to stand in the gap, because You cared!

When the world feels a little too cold, my heart stays within the warmth of Your love. To be consumed by the fire, the burning desire. Every time my heart takes a breath, but my soul forgets to breathe. There You are, hovering, watching; to be my every breath. When we need a love to be the quietness within our heart, when we need a love to speak into the stillness of our soul; There You Are!

Do They Get It?

If You were to ever hide, my heart would move heaven and earth; to seek is to find. Wherever Your love goes, my heart will forever follow; relentlessly chase after Your love. Sometimes I’m absolutely beside myself, to know how ridiculously Your love wants to be a part of my heart. Do they even get it, they probably don’t yet get; what my heart’s been trying say? Maybe it’s beyond a normal comprehension, maybe no one else should truly ever get it; what this love truly means to me. I stopped a long time ago, chasing after things; I just want to chase after Your heart!

Writing about this love, has become the passion; that flows deep within. My heart can speak about this love, my soul can express the depth. But every day I realize, this love is not just my air; but my every breath. From the moment I rise, to the very moment I lay me down to sleep; I need this love to breathe. My affections is for You, Your love is not a figment of my dreams; but a presence, within the depth of my soul. I want to know You, not only in text, not just as a feeling; that passes through my heart like the wind. But feel Your love as it hovers, throughout the innermost parts of my soul; can anyone ever get that?

We’ve been through so much, this life, this journey, this heart; this love, didn’t get like this overnight. This love to some might seem crazy, it’s been an adventure; discovering the true depth of Your heart. My whole life, I‘ve never had a need for alcohol or drugs. Your love is my rush, the thrill that would sustain my heart; for a thousand lifetimes, do they get it? Your love is now, and will forever be; the only desire, my heart will ever need. A love that has captured, truly inspires. Even the ripples, overwhelms my heart and soul; within Your ocean of love, do they get it? Simply put, You wanted a relationship; but my heart, wanted a love affair!

My heart is captivated, but my soul says; beyond captivating. A heart forever captured, a soul free; but wrapped up, tied up, tangled up. It’s not about freeing the mind, but the freedom within my soul; that truly makes my heart free, to be unapologetic about the love within. I hope, that hearts who are on the similar journey, can truly get it? To have a heart that’s not just chasing, but eagerly pursuing. As for me and my heart, I’m going to spend the rest of my days; tiredly chasing after Your heart. Your love was the whisper; that broke through the silence, within my heart. A soul that now writes a love story, about this poetic love!

Keep Your Eyes!

When you’re lost, when the teardrops blinds your heart; keep your eyes. When the feeling isn’t fuzzy, when the vision of love is a bit hazy; keep your eyes. When your heart wants to see a perfect picture of love, but what you see seems so blurry; you can’t even recognize a true masterpiece. Even with all your flaws, you’re still a perfect reflection; of the creators amazing love, keep your faith. You don’t need eyes to see, just faith to believe; keep your eyes!

When everything seems fragile, when every step feels like glass. A broken prospective, can still be glass half full; keep your eyes. It’s not always easy feeling loved, wanting to show love when you’re hurting; not easy. Underneath the skin, beyond all that lies between. Within the heart, deep down within the soul; true beauty lies. Going above and beyond, to show a genuine kind of love; leaves a lasting impression, keep your eyes!

When you can’t see no signs, that the sun even exist. When you’re lost within the dark, there’s a light that shines; to show your heart a way home. When you feel burned out, when you can’t even see a flicker; there a light of hope. Within the valley of shadows, grace abounds. Sinner or Saint, what forever stays the same; we’re still only human. It’s Jesus’ love, that picks up the pieces; left shattered from a broken world. Jesus says, Keep Your Eyes; On Me!

The Message; My God!

My eyes are preparing to see a new year, but as for me and my heart; it’s another opportunity, to celebrate My God. Through the years, His love has brought my heart through many ups and downs. My soul has journeyed, finding His love; has been the journey. 2018 marks my fiftieth year, but it truly feels; the journey has just begun. For me, the strength of God’s love began; not when I was at my weakest. But when my heart forever knew, how to celebrate His greatness. The Savior of the world, the giver of salvation; My God. His love is the place my heart goes, when I need to hide from the rain. The place my soul resides, when the rain becomes a storm. My heart is kept within the valley; a love that is my provider, protector. A love that has become, my favorite hiding place; My God is!

My God is a way maker, a miracle worker, a promise keeper; the light in the darkness, that’s who My God is. My God wipes away every tear, mends broken hearts; a love that meets your every need. His love touches every life, a love that turns lives around; My God is the answer to it all. His love touches my heart, forever nestled up against my soul. A love working within my life, that’s My God. The world can shout down my beliefs; but they can never silence my heart, or disparage my soul. Because My God is awesome, His love forever reigns. He is great, and He should be greatly praised. He deserves my Hallelujah; My God!

Out On A Limb!



I’m a man who thinks, not a man who drinks. I’m not a drunken monkey, Jackie Chan’s not the only one with cool moves. Everybody loves Kong Fu fighting, moves fast as lightning; oh-hoh-hoh-hoah. Shorty, your love; always seems to swing my way. My heart is no ancient Chinese secret, but my heart can’t help; to soak up every bit of your love. I’m not scared to go out on a limb and say; your love is a touch, felt deep within my soul. Monkey see, monkey do. My heart is loving on you, because my heart seems to always catch you; loving on me!

Girl, you know my heart is not into monkey business, and I promised to never monkey around with your heart; when it comes to your love, and my heart. You will never see no evil, you will never hear no evil; no evil word, will ever past by these lips. Twist my arm, if you still need to question my love. The truth is, your love is twisted; wrapped completely around my heart. A love that helps my heart breathe, no need to even go on a limb; it’s felt with every breath I take!

Catch me I’m falling, too late; I already fell for you, and it wasn’t because I slipped on a banana peel. Let me take hold of your hand, you can take a forever hold of my heart. Girl, every time I fall; it‘s always because of you. I can’t help falling, it’s forever in love; and it’s with you, again and again. 2018 has seen us together for thirty years. 2019 will be the start of another thirty years, that my heart wants to go with you; out on a limb!

The Gift!

Are you expecting, is your heart truly expecting; a gift? Are you fast asleep, or are your souls absolutely wide awake; is your heart overwhelmed with such a feeling? Do you feel joyous, is joy rocking around within your heart tonight. This is the time of year, when your heart keeps tossing; just can’t stop turning. Your heart is in a state of anticipation, maybe because of the sheer expectation? Your heart is expecting a gift; are you finding it hard to sleep, at night? It’s the twelfth day of Christmas, can you truly not wait; to see true love. May your heart truly receive the gift, tonight!

So therefore Harken, stop for a moment and let just your soul, listen; there’s an angel singing. Listen to the pitter patter, listen to the noticeable prancing. Upon the rooftop of your heart, within the depth of your soul. The true and lasting pitter patter, can forever be felt; within the center of your beating heart, tonight. Love is the anticipation, within your heart it shall be revealed. So come one, please come all; come all ye faithful, receive this heart felt gift. On the night before, on the night called the eve; the night before Christmas!

Let your heart be joyful, let your soul be forever giddy; let the joy within your hearts, burst forth with singing. Let love be the gift, the gift that forever keeps your heart giving. Open up your hearts, receive the gift of love; may it truly make your heart, forever full. Drink until the noggin makes your soul MERRY; CHRISTMAS, is truly the most wonderful time of the year. Beautiful!

The bright morning star, brightest star in the heavens; babe in a manger, Jesus. Your love, the song the angels sang. The song my heart now sings, Your love; forever my song. You are so beautiful, Your love has truly been my everything; to me You are, so beautiful. So how, how can my heart say this, how can my soul ever explain this; how do I truly explain, Beautiful?

Your name, lets start there; beautiful. Your love, stunning, breathtaking; yes, beautiful. Your heart, to fathom would surely be beyond beautiful. Your presence, just a mere glimpse into Your love; so absolutely beautiful. The love that truly warms my heart, when a wintery frost; seems to be the coldness within my soul. The pep within my springtime, Your love my bright sunshine. The purest love, that my soul has forever come to know. More than a gorgeous summers day, more satisfying than a wonderful autumn breeze. Season after season, beautiful; is still just the start!

So how, how could my heart explain; how do I justify how beautiful? For a love so dear to my heart, the dearest to ever touch my soul; dearer to me, than everything. So how, how can my heart not help but to feel; it was the fall, in love. With a love so so beautiful; the absolute greatest love, my heart will ever know. Jesus, Your love moves within my heart; And It’s So Beautiful!

The New!

Now, now is the day; today is the new. We are approaching a new year, but let’s not forget; today is also a new day. Celebrate, that you got to see a new; celebrate each and every, celebrate the new. Today is the day, to see the new; to see a new thing. Let your heart see, let your heart, behold; God is doing a new thing. Embrace today as a new, no need to wait; for a new year!

Make a resolution within your heart, that you will allow your soul to forever embrace; the new. God is ready to do, something new. See the new day in a different light, open up your heart each day; the new has already begun. You may not always see, you may not always want. But in order to move mountains, you always need to believe!

There’s a path through the chaos, can your faith truly see? That there‘s a river, within the desert; of every parched soul. Now, now is the day; today is the new. Awaken your heart, stretch, work out, exercise; your faith, and beliefs. Clothe yourself within the new, walk on faith; God’s love will be the path, to show you the way!
